About Calculator for Sleep
Calculator for Sleep is a single, calm tool for one common question: when should I go to bed, or wake up, so the morning does not feel like a wall?
Most sleep calculators do one of two things. Either they are stark, utilitarian boxes that spit out a time with no explanation, or they are buried at the bottom of a long article that exists mainly to sell a mattress. We wanted the opposite: the tool first, the science honest, and nothing dressed up to look more certain than it is.
The honesty part
You will notice we keep saying that 90 minutes is an average, not a law. That is deliberate. Real sleep cycles run anywhere from about 70 to 120 minutes and they change across a single night and across a lifetime. A calculator that pretends otherwise is selling you a precision the science does not support. Ours gives a strong estimate and tells you where the estimate ends. If you know your own cycles run long or short, you can change the numbers yourself in the Fine-tune panel.
How it is built
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. The times you enter are never sent anywhere, there is no account, and nothing about your sleep is stored. The science on these pages is drawn from public, citable sources such as the Sleep Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, linked inline wherever a claim is made. We do not invent studies.
How it stays free
The site is free and we would like to keep it that way. It is supported by unobtrusive advertising and by affiliate links to bedtime products on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Those links are clearly marked, and they never change the times the calculator gives you.
